Junior Falcons Training Camp
Falcons in the Community
The Junior Falcon Training Camp is a free program geared towards ages 8 to 12 or 4th and 5th graders and comes to your location to stress the importance of becoming successful in life by staying healthy and making the right lifestyle decisions. This hour and a half program can accommodate up to 150 children. Each child is led through 4-5 football stations by Coach Chris Millman of the Atlanta Falcons. The children will receive a brief pep talk before and after the practice. All the equipment and supplies are provided by the Atlanta Falcons and Gatorade. All we will need is a time, a place and your children.
Please feel free to email (cmillman@falcons.nfl.com) with any questions or possible dates.
Camps must be presented inside the state of Georgia
Each Atlanta Falcons Junior Training Camp session generally lasts for an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half and has a capacity for 150 children. The speaking segment of the camp usually lasts for 5-10 minutes, leaving an hour for the actual football clinic. The clinic itself consists of four to five stations, which will be conducted by Falcons Staff, school volunteers or classroom teachers. The camp’s curriculum is very simple and emphasizes fun; therefore, volunteers are not required to have football experience. Having the teachers or volunteer parents manage the football stations create a fun atmosphere for both the students and teachers.
Requirements for each school are minimal, but very important.
Millman will assign volunteers to their stations prior to the actual clinic. The only items that need to be provided by the schools are trash cans, a minimum of six helpers and eager students. The Atlanta Falcons and Gatorade look forward to bringing the Junior Training Camp to your school’s students or club. It is the intent of the Atlanta Falcons to make this event a fun, safe and educational day for the students, volunteers and instructors.
- All participating students must be dressed appropriately for the clinic (athletic shoes, shorts, t-shirts or jeans).
- Dresses are inappropriate for the football drills.)The Physical Education Teacher or teacher overseeing the clinic will turn in all waiver forms to Chris Millman when he arrives at the school.
- One (1) station will be assigned to each volunteer/teacher.
- The motivational talk, lasting 5-10 minutes, will take place on or near the actual football clinic site before and after the program.
- At the conclusion of the motivational talk, the students will be divided into 4 or 5 groups. Each group will be escorted to their pre-determined station at the football clinic site by their classroom teacher/group volunteer.
- Each teacher/group volunteer will demonstrate the drill as soon as all of the students have reached the station.
- The drill will run continuously until the whistle blows. At the whistle, the teacher/group volunteer will instruct all of the students to return the football to its original position and quickly call all of the students to the center of your station. Have everyone put their hand in the middle and yell, “Go Falcons” or “Play Football”. Then have the students to rotate to the next station.
- The classroom teacher/group volunteer will stay at the same station throughout the clinic.
- After the final rotation, the students will congregate near the middle of the field for a brief motivational talk. Finally, each student will receive souvenir and Gatorade refreshment. Once they have received their gift and re-hydrated with Gatorade, they are dismissed.
- The Atlanta Falcons Junior Training Camp is for 4th and 5th Graders or 8 to 12 year olds ONLY.
- Each participant must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. The waiver forms should be collected by the Physical Education Department Head or teacher prior to the event. No child will participate without a signed waiver form.
- The Atlanta Falcons Junior Training Camp is a one-day event. If your school has more than 120 4th & 5th graders, two (2) sessions can be scheduled on the same day with prior approval or on 2 separate days.
- The teachers/volunteers who are conducting the stations must meet with the Junior Training Camp coordinator during the lecture part of the program. A demonstration of each station will be performed.
