FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Wednesday the Falcons signed sixth-round Draft pick running back Thomas Brown from Georgia. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brown, 5-8, 204 pounds, finished his career at Georgia ranked fifth in school history in the rushing department with 2,646 yards on 529 rushing attempts. Brown’s all-purpose total of 3,767 yards is the fourth-best mark all-time in Georgia annals. In his final season in Athens, Ga. last year, he appeared in 10 games, recording 779 rushing yards with a career-high 10 touchdowns scored. Brown earned SEC Player of the Week honors against Mississippi (9/29) after finishing with 16 carries for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
Brown attended Tucker (Georgia) High School and was an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11, Super Southern 100 and Class AAAA All-State choice as a senior. He rushed for 1,632 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and in seven games during his senior season, added 941 yards and 17 scores.
The Falcons selected Brown in the sixth round (172 overall) of April's NFL Draft.
