BALTIMORE -- Official game notes from the Falcons-Ravens preseason contest
- The Falcons and Head Coach Mike Smith earned their second preseason victory with a 10-9 win over the Baltimore Ravens. With a final 2008 preseason record of 2-2, the Falcons have not had a losing preseason since 2003.
- Atlanta’s defense kept Baltimore out of the end zone for all four quarters, improving their streak of holding their opponents without a touchdown for 13 consecutive quarters. The streak started in the fourth quarter in the Falcons first preseason meeting against Jacksonville.
- Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud and cornerback Glenn Sharpe intercepted their first passes of the preseason. DeCoud also contributed with three tackles.
- Rookie quarterback Matt Ryan pieced together an impressive preseason performance following his play against Baltimore. He completed 34 of 59 passes for 294 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a 75.1 passer rating.
- Running back Jason Snelling led the team in rushing with 15 carries for 88 yards. Snelling finished the preseason second on the team with 159 rushing yards on 35 carries.
- Atlanta defensive tackle Kindal Moorehead and defensive end Kroy Biermann each posted one sack each against the Ravens. For Biermann, it was his third of the preseason while the rookie also contributed with 12 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
- The Falcons defense forced at least one turnover in each preseason contest this season. Against Jacksonville in the opener, Atlanta recovered three fumbles. The Falcons then intercepted one pass against both Indianapolis and Tennessee before recording two interceptions against Baltimore.
- With the first half coming to a close, quarterback D.J. Shockley successful drove the Falcons 76 yards in the two-minute drill capping the drive with a 20-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Brian Finneran. Shockley finished the game having completed seven of 14 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown.
- Finneran’s 20-yard touchdown catch from Shockley with 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter was his first score of the preseason and first touchdown since a Falcons regular season meeting at Miami on November 6, 2005.
- Kicker Jason Elam converted his sixth field goal of the preseason, splitting the uprights on a 29-yard attempt at the 10-minute mark in the third quarter.
- Wide receiver Eric Weems was the recipient of Shockley’s longest pass of the game on a 31-yard toss in the third quarter. The catch was the longest for Weems this preseason.
