NASHVILLE, TN -- Soles4Souls™ Inc., the international shoe charity announced today that Atlanta Falcons Todd McClure and Jonathan Babineaux are teaming up with Shoe Carnival and Soles4Souls to help millions of people both here in the United States and around the world in desperate need of footwear. In addition, the charity announced that it will provide 30,000 pairs of new shoes to all of those affected by Hurricane Ike.
“We are thrilled that Todd, Jonathan and the Atlanta Falcons organization have chosen to partner with Soles4Souls,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “The shoes donated by the Falcon’s fans will make a huge impact on the lives of thousands of people in desperate need. You can’t watch the news reports on this current tragedy without being affected by it. We have donated over one million pairs of shoes to date to those affected by Hurricane Katrina and we again provide for those affected by Hurricane Ike, who are in our hearts and prayers at this time.
“We are extremely grateful to Todd, Jonathan and the Atlanta Falcons organization for helping in this effort and invite everyone to donate their shoes or a few dollars at Shoe Carnival to help us deliver shoes to those in need."
“Atlanta Falcons players are annually among the most active and philanthropic in the National Football League,” said Kendyl Moss, Atlanta Falcons Director of Community Relations. “This opportunity with Shoe Carnival and Soles4Souls allows our players and the Falcons organization to strengthen the reach of our resources in communities in metro Atlanta and throughout Georgia.”
Most of us have lots of shoes that we no longer wear. According to one estimate, more than one billion pair of shoes lay idle in American closets. Yet there are millions of people both here in the United States and around the world in desperate need of footwear.
That’s why the Atlanta Falcons, McClure and Babineaux are teaming up with Shoe Carnival and Soles4Souls, the international charity dedicated to providing free footwear to people in desperate need, to provide a basic, yet indispensable gift that most of us take for granted: the gift of shoes.
Both will be on hand on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Venture Point Shopping Center, to sign one autograph for each pair of new or “Gently worn” shoes that are donated to Soles4Souls or for a small donation of $2.00.
Todd will be signing from noon until 2 p.m. and Jonathan will be on hand from 4-6 p.m. Venture Point Shopping Center is located at 3825 Venture Park Parkway, Suite 2, Duluth, GA., 30096.
This autograph session and shoe drive is an opportunity to give back to the Atlanta area community. In addition, this event is part of the recently announced partnership and program between Soles4Souls and Shoe Carnival. For a small donation of $2, someone without shoes will receive a gift of shoes. In addition, those who donate new or gently worn shoes will receive a $5.00 Shoe Carnival coupon. All 300 Shoe Carnival store locations are participating in the program which will end on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008.
