Career
For the first time in four years, was one of three Falcons rookies to start in the season opener and one of two Atlanta rookies to start on the offensive line, which ranked second to the Baltimore Ravens in 2007.

Started the team’s first six games at right offensive tackle before shifting to right guard for the final seven contests, extending his school record string of 51 consecutive games.

Earned All-Big Twelve Conference first-team honors from the Associated Press as a junior.

Started all year at right offensive tackle, where he was a key part of a line that helped Texas rank first in the nation in scoring offense (50.2 ppg), second in rushing offense (274.9 ypg) and third in total offense (512.1 ypg).

Blalock collected 112 knockdowns with 13 touchdown-resulting blocks and had 13 more blocks down field.

All-Big Twelve Conference first-team selection by the league’s coaches and the Austin American-Statesman, adding second team accolades from the Associated Press, Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and San Antonio Express-News as a sophomore.

Named first-team Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and The Sporting News after his freshman redshirt season.


Personal
Attended Plano East (Tex.) High School.

Three-year starter at offensive guard and earned first-team All-America honors from USA Today as a senior, and was also a first-team All-State Class 5A, All-Area and All-District selection.

One of five finalists for the 2002 Watkins Award, which is presented to the nation’s top African-American high school scholar-athlete.
